Her clinical interests include Gestalt Language Processing (GLP), Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), early language development, and supporting multilingual communicators.

These included sensory integration, fine motor development, handwriting and pre-writing skills, visual-perceptual training, ocular motor training, and daily living skills for children with diverse developmental, neurological, and medical needs. She also served as a Clinical Educator for occupational therapy students from both Bachelor's and Master's programs in Hong Kong. Cherling has specialized expertise in working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Sensory Processing Disorder, ADHD, physical disabilities, and complex developmental delays, as well as children with a range of musculoskeletal, neurological, and medical conditions. Her clinical experience spans acute hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals, outpatient clinics, special childcare centres, early learning and training centres, home-based programs, preschools, and elementary school settings.

Registered Social Worker in BC with over 10 years of experience supporting children and youth with elevated needs in social-emotional learning, behaviour, learning disabilities, mental health, and complex trauma, using play, conversation, and evidence-based approaches in a safe and supportive space to help them build confidence in expressing their emotions, and working closely with parents to offer practical strategies for better understanding their children and strengthening the parent-child relationship.

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, with 14 years of clinical experience, including 3 years teaching typically developing children and 14 years supporting children aged 2 to 15 with special educational needs such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), global developmental delay (GDD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Down syndrome, sensory processing disorder (SPD), intellectual disability (ID), speech and language delay, selective mutism, specific learning difficulties (SLD), and emotion regulation disorders. Her work spans one-on-one, duo, and group therapy models, flexibly delivered across homes, centres, and schools, and includes assessment and individualised program design for each setting, including home-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, behaviour intervention and clinical supervision, and parent and caregiver training.
